Do It DIY Style

My upcoming DIY projects:

In general, I'd love to play with drapes and folds.

I also want to see if these tanks are DIY-able, as they seem to be everywhere and also seem to just be a simple task of folding fabric over and stitching it.

I'm debating whether to try and copy this by:
1. taking a strip of fabric, folding it into a bow shape, and then sewing it down
2. sewing a bow shape with beads
3. simply sewing a bow shape with thick thread.

Girlie at ModCloth

I kind of adore this dress...sadly it's $69.99 and only available in a large.

Don't laugh, but I think I'm going to give it a shot with DIY. I'm just gonna need a lotta lace trim. Plus, the seams look intentionally pucker-y so if I'm sloppy with that it won't show up, right? Right? Then again, all of my supposed DIY projects have not begun because I have been so caught up in enjoying the gorgeous summer weather that has graced Chicago by spending all available time exploring downtown or lying on the beach (appropriately covered in SPF 100 sunscreen).

A DIY Grad

Just a quick post on my graduation dress and my first brush with DIY:

The dress was a lovely $5 find from the thrift store (the tag says it's from Express), but it originally was just the strapless dress and a bit longer. With one day before graduation, I felt like the dress wasn't quite special enough for the occasion, so I hemmed my dress to above my knee and bought a $4 scarf from Wet Seal in this pretty green tone that matched the pattern on my dress. I cut up the scarf and sewed a few rosettes on the front waistline and twisted part of it to make a strap.

A DIY Fantasy

I would love, love, love to be able to sew like a pro.

In particular, I am dying to DIY one of my plain old skirts or tees and scallop the edges after seeing this adorable ChloƩ scallop skirt.
