The sweater is $20 and the shoes are $24...I'm especially in love with the loafer/moccasins, because they're in a unique colour that can still function as a neutral. The only thing I'd be worried about is how well they go with blue jeans. But with black tights? Wonderful.

Navy's In For Fall
Even though it's supposed to be one of Chicago's coolest summers ever, I still dream about the brisk breezes and crunchy coloured leaves of fall...not to mention the glorious wardrobe changes that will occur.

Runway Rants: Erdem
Erdem caught my eye with this lovely purple pleated strapless dress. It's very on-trend, and reminds me of something Jillian Lewis would have created on the last season of Project Runway.

I love the subtlety of this dress, and the fact that it remains chic without showing too much skin. I could see this working on someone like Reese Witherspoon, but only at the appropriate occasion...a Cannes film premiere, for example.

I'm loving the structured trends in dresses these days, and it is no exception with this dress. The texture of this print has a vaguely Asian tone to it, which I've seen in many dresses lately. I would love to see a more mature actress rock this dress, which doesn't show off much skin but will hug a fit body.

And finally, doesn't this trench look a bit Burberry to you? I remember falling in love with Burberry's lace trench just a few years back, and I do like this version, but I will say that I liked Burberry's version better, because it did not have the minor frills at the bottom.

Runway Rants: Marc by Marc Jacobs
This collection had pretty slim pickings, if not for the fact that a large part of the collection was geared towards men. I did have a few favourites, though. Coincidentally, my top two picks were black...I say coincidentally because my wardrobe happens to be mainly black as well.
Ms. Posh Spice was affiliated with the Marc Jacobs brand for a little while, and something makes me think that her influence must have come into play here, if just subconsciously. Though Victoria Beckham has been looking a tad bit more relaxed lately, I think this dress would still be completely up her alley, complete with huge sunglasses.

This is pure Jacobs genius...Blair Waldorf runway, done right. The mixture of textures is perfect, as are the black lace-up boots that add just the right edge.

Also, is this the new trend in high-waisted skirt-like items? The sweater knit would contrast well with a flimsy tank, though I don't think I see myself wearing anything like it.

The Crew, Part 1
J. Crew has just posted a couple of advertising shots for their fall collection and they look amazing! I'm a fan of things that are buttoned-up and on the straight-laced side, but still have a touch of girlie. One of the items in their upcoming repertoire that caught my eye was this chiffon rosette belt. But it's $38.00, yikes!

You're probably wondering what I'm so hyped up about, because the belt doesn't look too interesting in the picture above. It looked a tiny bit DIY to me, but it had a bit of charm. Then I looked at the promotional pictures and how it's styled.

Chic, yet girly, but still put together? Count me in! That all-yellow look is so amazing (in pictures...I'd swap out the yellow trousers for dark skinnies in real life)...sigh. In the back of my head there's a little voice telling me that every item in this shoot is probably way more expensive than I can fathom, but still...the styling is absolutely genius. I would style it with these two dresses, swapping out their matchy belts for this girlie one.

By the way, speaking of amazing styling, how cute is this ensemble? I never thought yellow shorts could look so crisp and put-together.
